Java for Macintosh - System 8/9

For Apple Macintosh System 8/9 exist only the java runtime ver 1.1.8 (mrj_2.2.5_install.bin). A newer java-version will not be produced for the 'old' mac-system.

To run java-program which needs java ver 1.3 you can only upgrade to mac os-x. this higher java-version is integrated in mac os-x.

To start a java-program you will only need the java-runtime (jre/mrj) but the 'software development kit' (sdk) for mac (mrj_sdk_2.2_install.sit.bin) contains a vew powerfull java-tools.


Installation

Download the following 2 files (from 'http://developer.apple.com/java/download.html' or from my ftp-server 'ftp://www.scorp.net/java/runtime/') and install them on your mac:

1.) mrj_2.2_install.bin
2.) mrj_2.2.5_install.bin
