The Java Speech Framework is an umbrella framework over both the Java Speech Synthesis Framework as well as the Java Speech Recognition Framework. The underlying technology that supports this framework is built into Mac OS X as Speech Synthesis and Speech Recognition. Although the API for the Java Frameworks is geared towards Java developers and so uses Java design points such as Java Beans with Event/Listeners patterns, properties, and property editors the concepts, capabilities, and terminology remain the same as the underlying technologies
